I have completed research on Johannes (known in the U.S. as John).
He immigrated to New York through Castle Gardens, New York (before Ellis Island was open) on 13 January 1890 at the age of 14. No way of knowing if he came with someone or not as the website I checked listed immigrants through Castle Gardens alphabetically by last name.
He went to the Boston area of Massachusetts and was naturalized 6 October 1903. John married Ragna Haakensen (born Norway abt. 1873 or 4) in Massachusetts about 1894 or 95, and together they had 5 children. They moved from Massachusetts sometime after 1910 to Chicago, Illinois where John died 20 April 1916. Ragna, incidently, died May 1969 in Racine County, Wisconsin.
If you need documentation on any of this, I can give you immigration and naturalization information. The only way to get certification of his death is to write to and pay the proper county records department in Illinois.
